Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols under the general guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI) and supervising manager, which includes screening, enrollment, monitoring of research participants, overseeing data for collecting, curating data and maintaining the REDCap database of all details for research studies. Will audit missing information and reach out to collaborating sites to complete entry for these data. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. This position is primarily responsible for study coordination in a Pediatric Cardiology clinical research area.

Job Duties

  • Oversees and independently manages collection of study data and catalogs detailed patient information from extracted communications and medical records; assures quality control of clinical research data and processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • Leads Interviews, screening and recruitment of patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Collects, processes, ships, and maintains paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol (rarely for occasional genetic testing).
  • Maintains records, regulatory documents and records for research studies. Assists with developing IRB protocol documents, annual renewals, consent forms, and regulatory documents.
  • Maintains and works with study team in creating detailed databases of research participants and submitted data.
  • Participates in clinical and research meetings.
  • Corresponds with patient throughout study.
  • Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with REDCap or similar web based research databases, database management, Institutional Review Board (IRB) maintenance, preparation and development, Good Clinical Practice.
