The Research Coordinator will participate in research activities, examples of which include subject recruitment, confirmation of subject eligibility, informed consent process, completion of case report forms, data clarification, IRB preparations and medical record abstraction, and data collection. The Research Coordinator also assists faculty with preparing manuscripts, making presentation slides and posters, conducting literature reviews, updating study databases, and taking photographs in a clinical and operative setting. Manuscript preparation includes writing, referencing, editing, basic medical illustrating, statistical analysis, creating tables and charts, and preparing submissions for publication. The candidate will coordinate day to day activities of research protocols which includes screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants.The candidate also ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.

Job Duties

  • Participates in data collection for research projects.
    • Maintains files for assigned research projects.
    • Conducts data collection and assures data integrity.
    • Works with staff and other members of the team to validate data collection is accurately completed.
    • Works with designated lead to complete IRB submissions, subject recruitment, data entry and analysis.
    • Prepares data analysis tables and figures, and charts necessary for professional data display.
  • Coordinates all aspects associated with assigned projects.
    • Coordinates day-to-day activities of the project to ensure all goals are met.
    • Coordinates meetings, meeting minutes and presentations.
    • Participates in data collection for assigned projects and assists with data interpretation and analysis. 
    • Interviews, screens and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study; collects consent forms.
    • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
    • Corresponds with patient throughout study as needed.
    • Collects, processes, and/or maintains paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
    • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies.
  • Conducts research literature searches for staff and assigned leads.
    • Provides one-to-one consultation for staff needing assistance with research literature searches.
    • Conducts independent research literature searches for staff and designated project leads.
    • Obtains research articles and textbooks from the Medical Center Library as needed. 
    • Provides summary of findings to project lead or project team.
  • Completes data collection and data entry activities.
    • Maintains data files for projects coordinated by the department.
    • Compiles monthly activities report and distributes appropriately as needed.
    • Tracks individual work load and submits to Director on weekly basis.
    • Coordinates annual report for department, works closely with Director on format.
  • Assists with professional presentation development department and assigned leads.
    • Prepares power point presentations for staff as needed.
    • Assists in preparation of posters as needed.
    • Serves as a resource for PowerPoint, Excel and other databases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
