The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is looking for a Research Coordinator II to manage the day to day operations of multiple research projects for Dr. Fasiha Kanwal. The ideal candidate will manage patient screening, recruitment and enrollment, conduct chart reviews of electronic medical records and enter data into Access databases. Duties will also include regulatory reporting and compliance, as well as writing IRB protocols, including amendments and renewals.

Job Duties

  • Screens, recruits and enrolls patients for NIH/NCI U01 project, includes blood processing, storage, and shipping.
  • Handles chart review of patient electronic medical record with data entry into Access database.
  • Coordinates and schedules weekly team meetings, present weekly reports, draft weekly meeting agendas, take notes and publish notes with assigned next steps. Follow-up with study team members to ensure completion of next steps.
  • Collects and maintains research documents in compliance with regulatory requirements, including patient consent and HIPAA forms, as well as IRB approval documents.
  • Provides patient with detailed study information, including scheduled follow-ups.
  • Maintains regulatory IRB documents for study.
  • Coordinates Data Use Agreements.
  • Draft IRB renewals and amendments.
  • Coordinates the completion of annual reports to NIH, NCI, CPRIT, VA.
  • Orders research supplies.
  • Cross-trains to support Regulatory RA (multiple studies).
  • Archives IRB approvals and correspondence.
  • Tracks and maintains updated copies of required individual team member training certificates, CVs, current professional licenses.
  • Processes forms to add/remove study team members.
  • Data Use Agreements – Submits initial requests, as well as renewal and amendment documentation for data use agreements (VIReC, VINCI, Mortality Data Repository—MDR, Texas Cancer Registry, etc.).
  • Coordinates the completion of annual reports to NIH, NCI, CPRIT, VA.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of related research experience
  • Ability to multi-task is critical to this role.
  • Prior experience with computer files and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Will also provide on-the-job training.
