The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to work with Dr. Jennifer Blumenthal-Barby on projects related to medical ethics and decision making. In addition to supporting the Center's robust research program, the Research Coordinator will have access to funding for professional development and the opportunity to participate in professional and academic development sessions hosted by the Center. Such development opportunities include journal clubs, speaker series, career development information sessions, peer mentorship, and programming on grant writing, academic presentations, and goal planning. Job Duties

  • Assists with day-to-day activities of active projects, including IRB protocols.
  • Manages project files and organizing project activities, and meetings.
  • Schedules and organizes project meetings, including developing agendas.
  • Assists in the development of project interview guides and surveys and conducting interviews with patients and clinicians.
  • Participates in coding and analysis of interview or survey data.
  • Prepares progress reports for key stakeholders and funders.
  • Prepares presentations for dissemination of findings.
  • Provides research and writing support, including conducting comprehensive literature searches/summaries and assisting with manuscript preparation.
  • Maintains and updates project websites.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, philosophy, bioethics, or related field.
  • Experience in project coordination, clinical research and/or qualitative interviewing.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for data tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 
  • Capable of multi-tasking effectively, prioritizing complex deliverables, and working independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Candidate should be extremely dependable and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and written communication skills, including proficiency in scientific writing.
