Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Section of Psychology (Housed within Texas Children's Hospital)

A full-time Research Coordinator position is available to assist with a behavioral research study focused on developing and implementing an intervention for families of school-aged children (ages 5-9 years) with type 1 diabetes. The research is focused on addressing the health disparities in diabetes that exist among African American and Hispanic children.

Job Duties
  • Recruitment of families within Texas Children's Diabetes Care Center. Interview, screen and recruit patients for study; explain process and procedure to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Collect research data using questionnaires with parents and children.  Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • Extract data from the electronic medical record.
  • May correspond with patient throughout study.
  • Opportunities to assist with manuscript or abstract preparation are available.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Required: Three years of relevant experience. 
  • None required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or at least 3 years of relevant research experience without a Bachelors Degree is preferred.
  • Prior experiences with Microsoft Excel, SPSS Statistics Software
  • Experience with research with racial/ethnically diverse children and their families
  • Experience with research in community and/or healthcare settings
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required
