Summary
A research coordinator part-time hourly position is available in the USDA/ARS Children's Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine. The individual will provide research coordination to a productive nutrition and metabolism research program and interact with multiple team members and research participants. The candidate will follow established guidelines and support the Principal Investigator (PI) and research team in coordination of research activities, will maintain regulatory documents and recruit research participants.
The research unit operates two Saturdays per month and offers a flexible schedule to accommodate the availability of children and their parents.
This is a part-time position at 0.25 FTE (10 hours per week). The schedule is flexible, with hours to be coordinated based on project needs. Some evening availability (typically between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM) may be required for participant outreach and scheduling. Weekend hours may occasionally be necessary depending on research activities.
Job Duties
- This is an opening for a highly motivated individual to be part of a productive research team.
- Provide principal investigator and the research team with support in coordinating research activities.
- Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Responsible for recruitment of research participants and scheduling of research activities.
- Responsible for maintenance of research database.
- Maintenance of regulatory binders.
- Coordination with nursing unit schedule to accommodate research needs of research participants.
- Familiarity with medical conditions is desirable.
- Processing and shipment of biologic specimen as needed in coordination with study staff members.
- Serves as a liaison and distributes research information to principal investigator, faculty, research staff, and others as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate children and parents’ schedule (research unit offers 2 open Saturdays/ month).
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree Biology, Nutrition, or Exercise Physiology (Pre-med track preferred). No experience required with preferred degree.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
- At least one year of relevant research experience such as recruitment and consent of research participants, clinical trials.
- Familiarity with electronic data systems such as REDCap.
