Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Research Coordinator I will work with investigators in the Department of Medicine in the Section of Epidemiology and Population Sciences. This position will be working on various projects, and will work closely with maintaining contact with the study participants and communities involved in the research study. Day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Due to the nature of several ongoing studies, the position will require calling study participants outside of normal office hours. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.

 

Supports multiple research studies by coordinating day-to-day study activities, ensuring adherence to study protocols and timelines, monitoring enrollment and data quality, and preparing reports as needed. Coordinates study visits and communication between investigators, participants, and research teams while assisting with monitoring visits, audits, and sponsor reporting.

Job Duties

35% Participant Recruitment, Enrollment, and Study Coordination

 

Identify and pre-screen potential participants through clinic schedules and provider referrals; document eligibility per study protocol.
Obtain informed consent by explaining study purpose, procedures, risks, and expectations; ensure all consent documentation is complete and compliant.
Coordinate participant scheduling, study visits, and follow-up communications via phone and email; document all interactions.
Retrieve lab and test results from clinical systems and submit to investigators or study teams as required.
 

30% Data Collection and Quality Management

Collect study data through medical record abstraction, surveys, and direct participant interaction, enter into REDCap or other research systems.
Perform data quality reviews, verify completeness and accuracy, and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity and protocol compliance.
 

20% Regulatory Compliance and Research Documentation

Maintain regulatory binders, study records, consent documentation, and other required research files to ensure compliance with institutional, sponsor, and regulatory requirements and readiness for audits and monitoring activities.
 

10% Specimen Management

Process biological specimens according to protocol requirements, including labeling, documentation, packaging, shipment, tracking, and maintenance of specimen-related records.
 

5% Inventory and Operational Support

Track and manage study supplies, equipment, and inventory; coordinate ordering and maintenance of materials needed to support study activities.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. No experience required with preferred degree.
