Summary
As a Research Compliance Associate for the Research Conflict of Interest (RCOI) Office, you will provide research conflict of interest compliance reviews, monitoring of Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) and Institutional Conflict of Interest (ICOI) management plans, and support to the RCOI and committee with reporting these reviews on a monthly basis. This position ensures that BCM staff and investigators are in compliance with Public Health Service (PHS) regulations as well as other federal regulations related to the management of Financial Conflicts of Interests in Research and is designed to promote objectivity in research.
Job Duties
- Assists the Director of Research Compliance with complex protocol, proposal, and Significant Financial Interest (SFI) reviews.
- Provides guidance and coordination regarding regulatory requirements for managing Research Conflicts of Interest (RCOI).
- Serves as an Office of Research (OOR) contact for investigators and staff navigating the Disclosure of Outside Interests Tool for SFI reporting.
- Delivers customer service and regulatory guidance to investigators regarding SFI reviews, management plan adherence, and compliance inquiries received via phone or email.
- Acts as a liaison between the Research Conflict of Interest Committee (RCOIC) and investigators to ensure timely communication of compliance-related information.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with investigators across the College.
- Collaborates with investigators to manage Financial and Institutional Conflicts of Interest (FCOI/ICOI) and ensure adherence to approved management plans and regulatory requirements.
- Assists in the development, communication, and implementation of policies, procedures, disclosure forms, system updates, and guidance for the research community and RCOIC.
- Assesses potential non-compliance issues (routine and for-cause) related to FCOI and ICOI management plans.
- Conducts and coordinates educational workshops and seminars on RCOI, management plan adherence, and regulatory compliance.
- Provides administrative and operational support to the RCOIC, including preparing disclosures and agenda items, developing meeting agendas, coordinating meetings, and documenting minutes.
- Partners with Research IT leadership and research compliance leadership to implement workflow and system efficiency improvements.
- Applies institutional policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations when reviewing FCOI management plans.
- Develops and maintains internal procedures to support policy compliance.
- Prepares external communications and reports for federal oversight agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Plans, organizes, and manages projects aligned with departmental goals and compliance initiatives.
- Assists with preparation of aggregate quarterly and annual compliance reports for College leadership.
- Provides onboarding and ongoing training for new and existing compliance team members.
- Collaborates with team members to achieve shared performance goals.
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some scientific background and research administration experience.
