Job Purpose

Performs complex research of an advanced nature under the general direction of the Principal Investigator.  Typically requires a high-level of skills and expertise in the area of research specialty.

Job Duties

Our laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and responsible Research Associate. The primary focus of the lab is exploring the mechanism of the molecular and cellular events that lead to neointima formation and vascular remodeling. Animal models for arteriovenous fistula in chronic kidney disease or diabetic mice will be performed to mimic human relevant diseases. The candidate will be first guided to learn the animal procedures. The Research Associate is required to catch the newest scientific information and design approaches to archive the goal. A strong molecular engineering and cellular biology background are required. Additionally, the candidate will perform a variety of routine experimental techniques such as electrophoresis, centrifugation, tissue culture.
 
•    Capability to design experiments and data analysis.  
•    Conduct arteriovenous fistula surgery and nephrectomy surgery to create mouse models.
•    Conduct molecular assays such as real time RT-PCR, genotyping, chromatin immunprecipitation (ChIP), Western blotting etc. 
•    Conduct cell culture experiments as needed. 
•    Collect, analyze and appropriately document experimental results. 
•    Responsible for breeding and maintaining mouse colonies and PCR-genotype.Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.  Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Experience Required: Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
