Summary
The Ramani Lab is seeking a highly capable and experienced researcher to join our dynamic team conducting multicenter collaborative studies funded by the Gates Foundation. The Research Associate will play a key role in developing and implementing laboratory assays that support translational research focused on advancing rotavirus vaccines. This position requires a proactive individual who can work efficiently under strict timelines, adapt to evolving research needs, and communicate effectively with collaborators to ensure successful project outcomes. The position will be onsite with potential for hybrid schedule.
Job Duties
Research and Development Planning
- Actively participate in research planning meetings to propose and refine scientific approaches and project strategies.
Collaborator Engagement
- Engage with scientific collaborators to clarify requirements and expectations.
- Develop and execute analysis plans based on project scope and collaborator input.
- Maintain regular communication to present findings, discuss data interpretation, and align on next steps.
Documentation and SOPs
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), experimental workflows, and other technical documentation to ensure reproducibility and consistency.
Project Management
- Create and manage detailed project schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Monitor progress and proactively adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines.
Scientific Writing
- Support the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and assist in writing grant proposals and progress reports.
Assay Development and Laboratory support
- Design, validate, and execute laboratory assays aligned with project goals, ensuring that all experimental work meets quality and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with lab staff to identify and resolve technical issues, contributing to the development of effective troubleshooting and mitigation strategies.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
- Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or MD in immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in assay development, particularly in translational or vaccine-related research.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of collaborative work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in scientific writing and data presentation is highly desirable.
