Summary
The Department of Neurology is looking for a qualified & motivated Research Associate to join our Neurocritical Care & Vascular Neurology Team. The Research Associate will support the Principle Investigator, Dr. Mohammed Hirzallah, and assist with complex research of novel technologies to study brain physiology in the Neurocritical care unit and austere environments including space flight. This position will require strong statistical & data analytics skill sets.
Job Duties
- Plan, direct and conduct research experiments through obtaining, measuring & categorizing several ultrasound images through lung scanning & eFAST protocol.
- Build, develop & manage overall database through Redcap.
- Develop research techniques and perform applications required for specific research projects. May conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study by running & performing statistical analysis over data collected.
- Maintain & monitor HIPAA compliance while collecting & documenting patient demographic information.
- Document results of experiments and report to principal investigators.
- Utilize ultrasound imaging and transcranial doppler then record and analyze physiological data including intracranial pressure using power lab, Moberg, ICM+, or similar software and hardware.
- Conduct statistical analysis.
- Participate in scientific writing including grant development and manuscript writing.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
- Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree
- Experience in the following skills:
- Ultrasound imaging
- Transcranial doppler 3
- Recording and analyzing physiological data including intracranial pressure using power lab, Moberg, ICM+, or similar software and hardware
- Database development and management using Redcap or similar software
- Statistical analysis
- Scientific writing including grant development and manuscript writing
