Job Purpose

We are seeking a talented Research Assistant to join our team (www.stpierrelab.com; Twitter: @StPierreLab). Our lab develops and applies new molecular tools to accelerate research. For example, we develop protein-based fluorescent biosensors for measuring neural activity and synthetic gene networks for controlling protein production. We are looking for a motivated, organized, and resourceful scientist with expertise in molecular cloning to accelerate our efforts to build and disseminate tools of broad utility. The ability to properly document results is critical for this position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge molecular technologies, learn new skills, and be part of an enjoyable workplace.

Job Responsibilities

•        Use modern techniques to assemble new expression vectors and construct large mutagenesis libraries.

•        Test novel tools (e.g. sensors) in mammalian cells and characterize them using microscopy.

•        Disseminate novel tools to the broader scientific community, making new contacts along the way.

•        Assist our lab manager with lab administration when needed.
