Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Meng Lab is offering a Research Assistant II position to study neurological disorders using brain organoids derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). The Research Assistant will work collaboratively with other team members to investigate the mechanisms underlying these disorders and to contribute to the development of potential therapeutic strategies. The Research Assistant will also participate in projects in the Zoghbi lab.

Job Duties

• Works independently and collaboratively to to design, execute, and analyze experiments aligned with the lab’s research goals.
• Performs electrophysiological recordings on mouse brain slices and induced Neruons.
• Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the relevant scientific field, literature, and methodologies.
• Collects, compiles, analyzes data, and report to PI.
• Prepares manuscripts and other reports under the guidance of the PI.
• Maintains laboratory operations. 
• Contributes to the training of students and other trainees.
• Contributes to lab meetings, planning discussions, and the development of new research directions or collaborations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

•Master’s degree in basic science or related field.
•8+ years of experience in biomedical research.
•Experience in neuroscience-related research.
•Experience with stem cell culture or primary neuron culture.
•Experience with mouse surgery or related procedures.
•Experience with electrophysiological recordings.
