Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

This position supports the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine and its research mission at Texas Childrens Hospital. We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant II to join a basic science and translational research lab within the Texas Childrens Microbiome Center. The role involves conducting complex research, developing and refining experimental methods, and contributing to ongoing projects. The Research Assistant II will plan, perform, and occasionally oversee research activities under the guidance of the supervisor, helping advance the labs mission to improve child health through scientific discovery.This role supports cell signaling research and animal studies within the Texas Childrens Microbiome Center.

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct, and conduct research experiments focused on GI disease prevention in children.
  • Lead studies related to microbiome-neuroimmune signaling.
  • Evaluate and analyze experimental data; document and report findings to principal investigators.
  • Develop and optimize laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Perform experiments involving physiology, molecular biology, metabolite and protein expression, cell culture, and animal studies.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize findings for research studies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • Applicants with experience in molecular or cell biology or animal handling will be given preference.
