Seeking a highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual to assist with building a new research lab focused on cancer genetics and epigenetics. The ideal candidate will grow with the new lab and work collegially with established labs. The Research Assistant will plan, execute, and report complex experiments with appropriate supervision/guidance.

Job Duties
  • Plan, execute, and report complex experiments with appropriate supervision/guidance.
  • Design and conduct laboratory research experiments.
  • Lead brain and in utero surgical procedures in mice.
  • Work with mice, maintain colony, health checks/records, assist with animal surgical procedures
  • Collect, compile and analyze data
  • Maintain records.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information as needed.
  • Select and determine appropriate research procedures
  • May assign/train activities to less experienced research staff
  • Document, interpret, and present results of experiments and report to principal investigators.



Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Experience Required: Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education Preferred: Master's degree in a related field.
  • Requires precision in preparing materials and recording data
  • Must have critical thinking: Related to experimental design and statistical assessment
  • Knowledge of molecular biology: DNA, RNA, protein work
  • Experience with tissue culture
  • Experience/willingness to work with advanced computational software related to next-generation sequencing
  • Experience/willingness to work with animals
