Job Purpose

Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.

Job Duties

Under general direction of senior research staff with minimal supervision, conducts activities to support research projects and exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices.

• Performs research projects in accordance with general plans approved by supervisor.
• Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to other researchers.
• Maintains and updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed.
• Conducts literature searches to Stays abreast of new, updated protocols and techniques.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned, maintains clean laboratory, orders supplies to ensure sufficient inventory, maintains lab equipment and
• Complies with all Baylor policies, rules, regulations, codes and keeps up to date with required training.
• Must have proficient computer skills and be able to communicate well with others.



Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
  • Required: Two years of relevant experience.
  • None required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred: Master's degree in a related field.

General knowledge of laboratory techniques: DNA/mRNA extraction, genotyping, plasmid preparation and cloning, protein extraction and western blotting, transfection, cell-based assays such as proliferation, migration, differentiation, tissue sectioning, mouse genetics, breeding, weaning, tail-clipping, genotyping and colony management would be helpful.
Computer skills: standard office programs as well as some data management and programming are a plus.
