Department of Medicine, Section of GI & Hepatology. Performs entry level exempt, administrative work requiring the exercise of discretion and judgement. 


Conducts chart reviews for the Translational Liver Cancer (TLC) set aside study "A Multicenter Evaluation of Barriers to the Conduct of Surveillance for Hepatocellular."


This RA will work under the direct supervision of the site PI. RA will be responsible for retrospective data collection from VA and BSLMC electronic medical records for patients with a diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Job Purpose

Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.


Job Duties
  • Extracts data from hospital medical records.
  • Enters data in established databases.
  • Interprets rules, regulations, and policies and implements as applicable.
  • May assist PI in establishing and attaining goals and objectives.
  • Researches and resolves problems and issues.
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies.
  • Orders supplies and equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Prior experience with computer spreadsheets and database management preferred.
Minimum Qualifications


  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.


  • Required: Two years of relevant experience.
