Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Research Assistant I in the Polverino Lab (www.polverinolab.com) will support translational lung research integrating human tissue processing and preclinical models. They will perform experimental research in human and murine lung models, including human lung tissue processing, in vivo studies, and laboratory operations, under the supervision of the PI.

Job Duties

  • Processes human lung tissue obtained from thoracic surgery, including dissociation, banking, and preparation for downstream analyses.
  • Performs murine experiments, including smoke exposure models, tissue collection, and basic phenotyping.
  • Designs and conducts laboratory experiments and assist in ongoing research projects.
  • Collects, analyzes, and documents experimental data.
  • Maintains laboratory inventory, order reagents, and ensure proper storage of samples.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of lab equipment and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Assists in data interpretation and preparation of reports and manuscripts.
  • Collaborates with team members and support cross-project activities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic molecular biology and/or animal work.
  • Experience with human tissue processing and/or murine models.
  • Experience in lung biology or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
