Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

Research Support and Laboratory Activities:The Research Assistant will assist with ongoing translational research projects involving human placenta samples and pregnancy-related studies. Responsibilities include supporting tissue processing, sample tracking, basic experimental workflows, and collaborate with core facilities. The role will help ensure continuity across multiple active projects and maintain organization of research materials, protocols, and data files. The Research Assistant may contribute to study planning and troubleshooting in collaboration with faculty and research staff.


Manuscript and Grant Preparation Support:The Research Assistant will assist in preparing scientific manuscripts, figures, and supplementary materials from ongoing pregnancy and placental research projects. Tasks include literature organization, reference management, drafting sections of manuscripts, formatting submissions, and tracking revisions across co-authors. May also assist with assembling preliminary data and background sections for grant submissions.


Project Management and Research Operations: Will help maintain project timelines, correlate communication across collaborators, and ensure milestones are met across multiple concurrent studies. Responsibilities include organizing lab meetings, tracking deliverables, managing shared data resources, and supporting reporting needs. The role will contribute to the functioning of a research group that includes faculty, trainees, and clinical collaborators, helping sustain productivity across a portfolio of active translational projects.

Job Duties

  • Systematize day-to-day activities across pregnancy and placental biology research projects involving both laboratory and clinical components.
  • Assist with processing, organization, and documentation of placenta-derived biospecimens used in translational studies.
  • Maintain structured databases for sample tracking, study metadata, and research outputs.
  • Support preparation and submission of manuscripts related to maternal–fetal health, placental biology, and infectious or inflammatory complications of pregnancy.
  • Facilitate communication between laboratory personnel, clinical research teams, and external collaborators.
  • Track project timelines, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple ongoing studies.
  • Assist with compliance organization, and protocol updates• Help organize lab research activities and support trainees working on pregnancy-related projects.
  • Contribute to organizing data and materials for presentations, progress reports, and internal research updates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in a related field.
