Job Title:  Research Assistant I - Gastroenterology Research

Salary Range:  $47,372 - $55,731
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, is looking to hire an competent and reliable Research Assistant I to manage day to day operations of  projects for Dr. Othman's research projects. This position requires conducting research experiments and overseeing multiple ongoing projects. The candidate will focus on Gastroenterology research, presenting data to PI weekly. It is the responsibility of this candidate to support the PI for various studies, existing and initiating new, to continue to support the College's Research Mission.

Job Duties

  • Maintains the lab equipment and environment.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
  • Uses electronic data capture tools to optimize clinical data collection.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data from multiple trial sites to assess treatment outcomes and ensure data integrity.
  • Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to Dr. Mohamed O. Othman.
  • Collaborates with Dr. Othman’s team to establish sham control and blinding procedures aligned with clinical trial standards.
  • Assist with literature reviews on obesity treatments and DMR procedures to support protocol development and study design.
  • Assist with designing and conducting research experiments for multicenter, randomized, double‑blind, sham‑controlled clinical trials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
