Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, is looking to hire a Research Administration Associate (RAA) to manage the pre and post-award activities for Dr. Hou's research mission. The RAA  will oversee regulatory and financial aspects of grants and awards, plus prepare financial and regulatory reports and present to PI on a weekly basis. Will also ensure compliance from all aspects of studies and contribute to overall process improvement for the portfolio. Lastly, the RAA will serve as a primary contact for external sponsors to initiate new studies and manage existing.

 

This role has the potential for a hybrid work schedule.  The role is located at McNair Campus in the Medical Center.

 

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

  • Build new budgets and monitor existing budgets against spend rate plus allowable financial transactions
  • Prepare grant submissions and submit in BRAIN
  • Work directly with sponsor on budget negotiation
  • Manage regulatory compliance and IRB protocols
  • Work with section on annual budget process for anticipated direct recoveries and IDC
  • Prepare financial reports and meet with section leadership plus PI to review financial performance and portfolio
  • Manage outgoing subawards
  • Review contracts with sponsors

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Organized, self-motivated, team leader, works well under pressure, multitasking
  • Clinical research experience and a desire to learn grants management
