This position main objective is review and approval of Coverage Analysis for Qualifying Clinical Trials. Additional assignments include development and review of clinical trial budgets for Office of Clinical Research managed studies and post award financial management. This position aligns with departmental and institutional deadline and metrics driven goals. The ability to work independently, and efficiently with different teams is key.


This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

  • Review and approve coverage analysis.
  • Review submission of coverage analysis and qualifying clinical trial forms. Review protocol, consent form, budget and coverage analysis to ensure consistency. Give feedback to department/study team regarding the review. Be aware of billing guidance from Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services and other agencies/organizations.
  • Pre and post award clinical trial budget management for specified portfolio.
  • Budget development, Clinical trial financial reconciliation, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, financial review/set-up, contract financial review, study financial analysis. Detailed financial analysis required budget development, ability to identify financial risks, research portfolio/disease type standard of care via local and national coverage determinations.
  • Communicate internally with study team and externally to resolve outstanding issues/financial risks that may arise.
  • Ability to transition varying departmental and institutional demands. Ad hoc reporting, based on department and institutional requests.
  • Departmental/Institutional Demands: High priority studies and projects, efficient turnaround standards, and workflow process/education/standards.
  • Ad hoc reporting: Reports to implement: foundation, improvements, and data for decision making by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Clinical research background especially clinical trial finance administration (clinical trial budget, clinical trial billing, coverage analysis).
  • Ability or previous experience in reviewing clinical trials, detailed-oriented, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to problem solve as every trial has their own unique issues. The individual must be organized to manage a large portfolio.
  • Ability to adjust to new department protocols and procedures as they arise. The individual must have good communication skills with the study team to successfully financially manage the trial.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, constant changing environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills (ability to multitask and prioritize workload).
