Summary

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health  is recruiting for a Research Administration Associate to manage pre and post-award grant administration involving patients with mental illness at Ben Taub Hospital. The Research Administration Associate will provide advanced level support to faculty in the pre-award areas of grants preparation, submissions requirements and budget creation. Will also have knowledge and expertise in post-award management including the key areas of account creation, sub-award management, account reconciliation and reporting, resource allocation, internal and external reporting requirements such at NIH progress reporting plus prepare financial reports.  Other duties will involve some Business Operations tasks such as submitting supplemental payments for  Moonlighters, creating purchase orders, creating Check Request and submitting Budget revisions. 

 

The office location for this role is in Ben Taub Hospital/NPC Bldg Houston, TX 77030.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of training.

 

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

  • Submit and manage clinical grant accounts Type 3,4,5
  • Submit and manage Type 1 and 2 accounts
  • Manage and oversee contracts for Harris Health System
  • Develop and prepare monthly grant financial reports
  • Submit grant applications in BRAIN and external sites
  • Enter budgets in CTMS PEPT Allocations for pharma accounts
  • Submit pending account request
  • Reconcile, prepare and submit final invoices and financial reports to closeout of expired accounts
  • Monitor post-award activities to ensure compliance for issues involving allowable costs, re-budgeting and reporting requirements, cost sharing and spending limitation
  • Monitor, research, and resolve open encumbrances and expenditures providing reports on budget status comparison between actual and budget

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical Research experience
  • Superior organizational skills and efficiency, with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Must be proactive and self-motivated
  • Must be creative in finding practical, clear solutions to complex issues
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to think outside the box
  • Critical thinker with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to complete a multitude of varied tasks in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
  • Any Prior knowledge of IRB, Human Clinical studies, or any relevant medical experience will be preferred
  • Experience with any of the following: SAP, SuccessFactors, Concur, PEPT, BRAIN, CTMS
