Title: Registered Nurse II - Ambulatory Operations-Specialty Infusion
Summary
Competent level professional nurse who is a proficient in delivering care in the ambulatory care setting. Uses past and current nursing experience to care for infusion patients. Serves as a resource/mentor for Licensed Vocational Nurses, Registered Nurse I's and unlicensed staff members.
Job Duties
- Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality and safe patient care and a positive patient experience.
- Adheres to the scope of practice as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Follows an individualized therapy plan provided by the medical provider (Physician/APP) for each patient .
- Consistently demonstrates competency with technical infusion skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.
- Professional assessment skills as applied to the patient, family/support system, and environment.
- IV medication administration including but not limited to: IVIG, Ocrevus, Remicade, etc.
- Able to perform peripheral or central line access for appropriate administration of medications.
- Resourceful in various infusion pumps such as the Braun Infusomat Pump.
- Practices nursing with high respect for individual, cultural, spiritual and economic differences.
- Communicates effectively and in accordance with BCM requirements.
- Reports significant changes in patient status to physician/APP and other members of the team in a timely manner consistent with patient needs.
- Maintains patient records showing systematic assessment, IV lines, nursing note, discharge instructions, etc.
- Participates in department meetings as scheduled.
- Recognize allergic reactions in order provide swift and competent care.
- Familiarize self with most common infused medications used in the infusion suite.
- Participates in the orientation of new clinical staff.
- Exemplifies team player mentality with the ability to withstand daily work stressors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Two years of experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
