The Department of Neurology is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse I to join our Maxine Mesinger Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. This position will perform patient centric administrative/support care in an ambulatory setting.  As mentioned above, this position will support the MS section, so having some knowledge or experience in general neurology or MS would be ideal as well as some experience with prior authorizations. 


We are looking for a team player, who is eager to join a fast paced group of providers and provide patient centric care.

Job Duties

  • Triages patient concerns through in-basket messages, MyChart messages, and phone calls. (20%).
  • Completes prior authorizations for specialty medications and procedures. (20%)
  • Communicates with patients and physicians regarding medication and treatment status (20%)
  • Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork. (10%)
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments. (5%)
  • Monitors incoming faxes. (5%)
  • Performs clerical/administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. (as needed)
  • Manages and coordinates incoming patient referrals. (as needed)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • No experience required.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some knowledge or experience in general neurology or MS would be ideal.
  • Experience with prior authorizations.
