Summary
Provides direct patient care in one of eight Baylor Teen Health Clinic locations. Collects pertinent clinical data to support the APP or MD with patient clinical telephone calls, refers and preauthorizes treatment, and provides information to the patient. Will document patient care services by charting in patient’s electronic medical record. Will administer medications and immunizations to patients. May assist in calling patients with results, appointment reminders and scheduling appointments.
The Baylor Teen Health Clinic currently provides pregnancy testing, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and HIV/AIDS education and screening, primary healthcare, and case management services to teens, their partners, and adolescents in Harris County. The clinics provide services to teens from the age of 13-24.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with our patient population and public health.
Will work in one of eight clinic locations. Each clinic is typically staffed with a Patient Support Services Coordinator, A Medical Assistant a Nurse (RN or LVN) and a Nurse Practitioner. Will provide patient care and support to APP/MD. In a typical day, each clinic is expected to see between 20-25 patients, depending on visit type.

- Sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment.

- Immunizations.
- HIV/AIDS education and screening.
Job Duties
- Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality and safe patient care and customer service.
- Adheres to the scope of practice as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Administers a variety of tests and medications and may take patients’ vital signs.
- May draw blood for lab tests.
- Schedules appointments, tests, and procedures for patients.
- Collects pertinent clinical data to support the RN, APP and/or MD with patient clinical telephone calls, refers and preauthorizes treatment, and provides information to patient.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient’s electronic medical record.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment; stocks and orders treatment room supplies.
- Maintains a professional and cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, and building rapport by participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- No experience required.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Immunizations and drawing blood for lab tests.
- Prefer experience working with teens and young adults.
- Prefer Bilingual in English/Spanish.
