This position supports the Special Projects sponsored by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). The individual in this role will provide both educational and administrative support for three programs (Initiative for Maximizing Student Development, IMSD; Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program, PREP; and the Summer Medical Research Training program, SMART) which comprise the Diversity and Summer Programs. This position will report to the Diversity and Summer Programs directors.

Job Duties

  • Serves as the project manager of education efforts for Diversity and Summer Programs.
  • Maintains longitudinal and active participation in all Diversity and Summer Programs curricula and trainees and faculty development activities.
  • Liaises with Diversity and Summer Programs directors regarding course execution and logistics and instructional technology and assessment teams.
  • Participates in the collection and organization of assessments and program evaluation information, in coordination with Diversity and Summer Programs directors and assessment team.
  • Teaches the GRE workshops to SMART/PREP students.
  • Manages the IMSD summer review courses.
  • Participates in and maintains National Research Mentorship Network (NRMN) for the Diversity and Summer Programs and support development of additional course components.
  • Assists with process for NRMN integration into GSBS programs.
  • Maintains and develops Diversity and Summer Programs websites.



  • Manages, coordinates and maintains course files and records, calendars, timelines, and course-related correspondence, including submissions and presentations.
  • Assists with course applications and registration process.
  • Processes PREP applications, interviews, and orientation.
  • Schedules meeting rooms, including coordination of audio-visual services, when required.
  • Prepares course agendas and slide decks, as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and actively participates in course marketing/outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree such as Master's in Education, PhD in Education or Research.
  • 2-3 years of relevant administrative or teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and Databases.
