Summary

The Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a professional with accounting, finance, technology, data integration, and process improvement expertise to assume overarching responsibility for the maintenance of the effective transmission of clinical financial information from the originating Epic system to all the downstream systems that facilitate business requirements in terms of financial reporting, management reporting, and tactical analytics.  Clinical financial information associated with Baylor Medicine originates in the Epic electronic medical record system. The information is subsequently transmitted to enterprise financial reporting systems, including SAP ERP, Microsoft Power BI, and a proprietary cube solution employed for month-end gross-to-net processing associated with recognition of Medical Service Revenue. Each of the downstream systems has a set of key stakeholders that are dependent upon the availability of accurate and consistent clinical financial information.  This role will serve as the leading expert and resource on the College's clinical financial reporting. This role reports to an Executive Director.

This position is largely remote, though some on-site presence is required at least once per month and from time to time, dependent on project activity.

Job Duties

  • Maintain current state data integrations prior to the SAP S/4 HANA Finance go-live, including Clinical activity originating outside of the Epic system for Baylor Medicine. 
  • When needed, provide technical assistance in course of troubleshooting and resolving integration errors.
  • Support completion of month-end gross-to-net processing associated with recognition of Medical Service Revenue in financial reporting.
  • Impact the direction and development of the next-generation data integrations (Design > Build > Test > Deploy) that are required in conjunction with the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA Finance.
  • Coordinate directly with executive stakeholders across functions to drive understanding and analysis of the specifications for business requirements.
  • Ensure Clinical revenue cycle processes and master data elements impacting College financial statements are appropriately incorporated into the new system integrations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Eight years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree a plus
  • 15+ years of progressive work experience with evidence of successfully reporting in a matrix organization
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Established IT, ERP and BI (Business Intelligence) skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including data manipulation, pivot tables, V-look up's and BI / data warehouse reporting
  • Expertise in SAP FI (Financial Accounting) and CO (Controlling) preferred
