The Williams lab at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a passionate and motivated postdoctoral fellow to help our young lab grow. Our research focuses on early embryonic and neural development using genetic, live imaging, and synthetic embryology approaches in zebrafish. The ability to drive an independent project forward and collaborate with others is essential. This position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field, and applicants with embryology and/or molecular biology experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments using zebrafish embryos and embryonic explants. This may include, but is not limited to:
    • molecular cloning,
    • generating mutant and transgenic zebrafish strains,
    • genomic and transcriptomic analysis, 
    • microscopy.
  • Evaluates, analyzes, and interprets data and generates figures thereof.
  • Establishes new research protocols and/or refines existing protocols required for specific research projects.
  • Summarizes research findings to be presented at conferences and published in research journals.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments and confer with principal investigator.
  • Presents and discusses results of experiments in laboratory group meeting sessions.
  • Presents findings of their research in CPEH departmental meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with molecular biology and/or embryology is desirable, but we are happy to provide training in necessary laboratory skills.
