Summary

This individual will serve the Department of Pathology & Immunology and its research mission at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). This person will participate in funded research projects and assist the laboratory in obtaining additional funding. This individual will design and conduct experiments in areas of microbiome and neuroimmune signaling on gastrointestinal function and disease susceptibility. This individual will develop strategies for studying Clostridium difficile and covid-19 contributions to human health or disease in the context of human antibiotic-associated disease and post-infectious bowel dysfunction. This individual will perform gastrointestinal physiology studies, linking omics, data analysis and collection, and should be proficient in research methods centered in the intestine.

Job Purpose

Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional.

Job Duties

This individual will present data at local and national meetings, mentor graduate students, and serve as co-author on publications. In addition to adhering to the policies set forth by TCH and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), the person must understand and act on the need for discretion due to the sensitive nature of research involved. This person will report to Tor Savidge, Ph.D. (Principal Investigator) and will be based in the Feigin Tower at TCH.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience needed.
