A position is available in the NIH-funded Center for Precision Medicine Models, which is developing animal models that will end the diagnostic odyssey of patients with undiagnosed genetic diseases and serve as resources for exploring personalized approaches to their care. Several projects focusing on several genetic diseases and organ systems are available. Applicants with first-author publications and experience in mouse genetics, molecular biology, embryology, and/or models of diabetes are preferred. Applicants should be enthusiastic about collaborative and interdisciplinary research, be motivated to develop as an independent scientist, and demonstrate excellent scientific communication skills.

Job Duties

• Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
• Evaluates and analyzes data.
• May establish new research protocols and procedures.
• Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
• Performs alone mouse phenotyping procedures such as diet challenge, glucose tolerance tests, blood collection, embryo imaging.
• Coordinates studies with core facilities.
• May supervise research staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with mouse models.
