Job Purpose

This individual will serve the Department of Pathology & Immunology and its research mission at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and Texas Children's Hospital (TCH). This person will participate in NIH-and other grant-funded research projects and assist the laboratory in obtaining additional funding. This individual will design and conduct experiments in areas of inflammation, diabetes, human metabolism including COVID testing as well as be maintaining a biobank database. This individual will perform biochemical and molecular analysis, maintain a biobank and associated database and should be proficient in research method validation and basic statistics.

Job Duties

This individual will present data at local and national meetings, mentor research students, and serve as co-author on publications. In addition to adhering to the policies set forth by TCH and BCM, the person must understand and act on the need for discretion due to the sensitive nature of research involved. This person will report to Sridevi Devaraj, Ph.D. (Principal Investigator) and will be based in the Feigin Tower at TCH.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, database maintenance, biobanking and statistics is highly desirable. Applicants with previous experience in clinical research will be favorably considered.
