Job Purpose

This individual will present data at local and national meetings, mentor graduate students, and serve as co-author on publications. In addition to adhering to the policies set forth by TCH and BCM, the person must understand and act on the need for discretion due to the sensitive nature of research involved. This person will report to Tor Savidge, Ph.D. (Principal Investigator) and will be based in the Feigin Tower at TCH.

Job Duties

This individual will serve the Department of Pathology & Immunology and its research mission at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and Texas Children's Hospital (TCH). This person will participate in NIH-funded research projects and assist the laboratory in obtaining additional funding. This individual will design and conduct experiments in areas of the functional microbiome and signaling to the host.  This individual will develop strategies for studying pathogen, including COVID-19, contributions to human health and disease in the context of adverse neuroimmune signaling to the host. This individual will perform neurophysiology studies, leveraging extensive multi-omics host-microbiome systems data to characterize novel host-microbiome neuroimmune signaling mechanisms, and should be proficient in research methods centered on electrophysiology and/or calcium signaling.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications

A strong background in electrophysiology and/or calcium imaging related to dorsal root ganglia or enteric nervous system is highly desirable. Applicants with previous experience in host-microbiome signaling will be favorably considered.
