Postdoctoral fellowship opportunity in Chin lab

The postdoctoral fellow will focus on a major research project in the lab that examines the anatomical, circuit, and network mechanisms underlying the dysregulation of sleep in transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer's disease. Techniques that will be employed by the fellow include rodent surgeries for infusion of viral vectors and implantation of EEG telemetry transmitters, behavioral assays, pharmacology, immunohistochemistry/imaging, and data analysis using software including but not limited to Spike2, Neuroscore, and Matlab. The fellow will also contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication of results from these and related studies.

The Chin lab uses a multi-disciplinary approach to investigate the cellular and network basis of cognitive and behavioral impairments associated with Alzheimer's disease, combining the use of transgenic mouse models of disease with studies of post-mortem human brain tissue. The collaborative atmosphere and teamwork are vital to the productivity, sense of community, and passion for science that are characteristic of the lab. Ideal candidates will be able to drive their own projects forward independently, as well as work as a part of a team to lend expertise or efforts to other lab members when appropriate.
