Job Purpose

Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional. The individual will serve the Department of Pathology & Immunology and its research mission at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH).

Job Duties
  • Participates in funded research projects and assists the laboratory in obtaining additional funding.
  • Designs and conducts experiments in areas of structural biology and virtual proteomics related to microbial discovery, as well as metabolite regulation of microbiota ecosystems. 
  • Develops strategies for studying Clostridium difficile contributions to human health or disease in the context of human antibiotic-associated disease.
  • Performs molecular modeling and dynamic simulations of bacterial proteins mined from unannotated microbiome genomes linked to functional omics biomarkers of disease susceptibility to C. difficile.
  • Presents data at local and national meetings, mentors graduate students, and serves as co-author on publications.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: None required.

  • The Postdoctoral Associate will present data at local and national meetings, mentor graduate students, and serve as co-author on publications.
  • In addition to adhering to the policies set forth by TCH and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), the Postdoc must understand and act on the need for discretion due to the sensitive nature of research involved.
  • The Postdoc will report to Tor Savidge, Ph.D. (Principal Investigator) and will be based in the Feigin Tower at TCH.
