Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Pediatrics - Section of Oncology is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join an interdisciplinary team of scientists broadly interested in understanding how the brain acquires and metabolizes lipids and how imbalances in cerebral lipid metabolism contributes to the pathogenesis of neuroimmune/neurodegenerative diseases and brain tumors. The lab uses a combination of chemical biology, analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry-based omics, imaging, and in vivo tools to investigate the fundamentals of brain lipid homeostasis.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in lipid metabolism, neurodegeneration, and/or brain tumors. Experience in organic synthesis of lipids/chemical biology, mass spectrometry, and/or biochemistry and cell biology of neuro-immune physiology is preferred.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
  • Maintains laboratory operations.
  • Supervises and trains research staff and students. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Organic Chemisty and Synthesis of bioorthogonal lipid probes
  • LC-MS/MS, confocal microscopy
  • CRISPR -iPSC and murine models
  • Biochemical characterization of proteins.
  • Strong interest and background in metabolism, neurobiology or cancer biology
  • Self-motivated and collaborative
  • Strong organizational skills
