Job Title:  Postdoctoral Associate
Division:  Neurology

Salary Range:  Hiring up to $62,232
FLSA Status:  Exempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The postdoc will join a dynamic research team investigating neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The research will leverage human cellular models, including induced pluripotent stem cells to enhance gene discovery and functional validation. Current areas of interest include endo-lysosomal sorting, RNA metabolism/splicing, neuronal cell adhesion, and synaptic mechanisms. The most promising genetic pathways are also being pursued in fruit fly and mouse genetic models, giving us the power to reciprocally translate findings between multiple complementary experimental platforms along with human genetic and clinical data.

Job Duties

  • Refines their independent project.
  • Designs, carries out, and analyzes results from their experimental plans.
  • Leads writing scientific manuscripts as well as contributes to research grant applications.
  • Participates in community outreach and recruitment of human subject / research study participants. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and substantial experience in the field of Drosophila genetics.
