Summary
This is a 100% grant funded postdoctoral associate position. The primary goal of this position is noninvasive profiling of inflammatory biomarkers in rodent models of Parkinson’s disease with MRI. The Postdoctoral Associate will hold a doctoral degree in neuroscience, biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry and demonstrated experience in biological assays, cell cultures, mouse brain tissue perfusion and fixation for immunohistochemical analysis, flow cytometry, mouse colony management, western blotting techniques, PCR techniques, confocal microscopy, and technical writing. Hands-on experience with imaging flow cytometry, brain tissue homogenization, homogenate analysis protocols, cell separation, and lysing methods are a plus.

Job Duties
- Defines problems and possible solutions as dictated by assigned research projects.
- Establishes procedures to be applied in the projects.
- Designs, develops, or adapts equipment used in experiments.
- Performs cell culture studies, animal injections and brain tissue perfusion and fixation for immunohistochemical analysis, and confocal microscopy imaging; flow cytometry.
- Performs western blot and PCR analyses.
- Writes and submits project results for publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
- Performs protein purification, Confocal Microscopy, Imaris analysis software techniques, UV-Visible Spectroscopy techniques; 96-Well Plate Readers.
- Works on flow Cytometry, Cell Cultures; Cell Assays, Cell Lysing methods, Mouse Injections, Brain Tissue Manipulation Protocols, and Technical writing.
- Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Chemical Biology, Biology, Neuroscience, or Biochemistry.
- Experience in Statistical Data Analysis, Operation of Standard Laboratory Equipment.
