Summary
The Hamilton Lab in the Department of Integrative Physiology is offering a postdoctoral position to study the molecular pathways that regulate muscle performance and muscle metabolism and how these pathways are altered in disease. A central focus of the research is intracellular Ca²⁺ signaling in striated muscle, which plays a critical role in the regulation of contractility, metabolism, and other fundamental aspects of muscle function. Using animal models, we investigate how disruptions in Ca²⁺ homeostasis influence the pathways that govern force production, fatigue resistance, and energy expenditure. To address these questions, the lab is employing an integrative, multi-scale approach that spans from single-molecule analyses to whole-animal physiology, incorporating biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, live-cell calcium and ROS imaging, muscle force measurements, indirect calorimetry, exercise performance studies, advanced imaging modalities (18F-PET/CT, MRI, and MR spectroscopy), and mass spectrometry-based quantification of post-translational modifications. These efforts are further strengthened through close collaborations with Baylor College of Medicine core facilities, enabling the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies in our research program.

Minimum Qualifications
