Summary
The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct independent and collaborative research investigating the role of Adrenomedullin (ADM) signaling in the development, prevention, and treatment of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). This position is supported by a federally funded NIH R01 grant and involves the use of genetic, pharmacologic, molecular, and physiological approaches in mouse models of pregnancy and metabolic disease. The Postdoctoral Associate will contribute to studies focused on maternal glucose homeostasis, insulin signaling, inflammation, and maternal-fetal health outcomes. The position provides advanced training in translational reproductive biology, metabolism, and experimental therapeutics while supporting publication and grant-related activities.

Job Duties
- Conducts experimental studies in mouse models of gestational diabetes and coordinates experimental breeding strategies.
- Conducts metabolic phenotyping that includes glucose tolerance tests.
- Collects maternal blood and tissues, harvests placentas and fetuses, and processes samples for downstream analyses.
- Ensures compliance with IACUC protocols.
- Evaluates signaling pathways involved in glucose metabolism, and insulin action using molecular and cellular analyses including qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, cytokine analyses, and immunohistochemistry.
- Assists with optimization and troubleshooting of laboratory protocols.
- Performs data analysis, interpretation, and dissemination including preparation of manuscripts abstracts, figures, and grant reports..
- Participates in and presents findings at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences.
- Contributes to development of future grant applications and collaborative projects.
- Collaborates with faculty investigators, trainees, and research staff and contributes to interdisciplinary collaborations involving reproductive biology, endocrinology, and maternal-fetal medicine investigators.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Physiology, Endocrinology, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Reproductive Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, or related field.
- Experience with mouse models of metabolic disease, pregnancy, or reproductive biology.
- Experience performing glucose tolerance testing, insulin sensitivity assessments, or metabolic phenotyping.
- Strong molecular biology background that includes PCR, qPCR, protein analysis, and tissue-based assays.
- Experience with data analysis and scientific manuscript preparation.
- Understanding of glucose metabolism, insulin signaling, endocrine physiology, or maternal-fetal health.
- Ability to independently design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments.
- Strong scientific communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative multidisciplinary research environment.
