Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine is part of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center located in Houston, Texas, which offers a highly interactive environment and a strong infrastructure for research and career development. The lab is seeking highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Associates with expertise in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology experience to join the Center for Drug Discovery in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine. The central vision is to improve the therapeutic options for diseases by developing a multidisciplinary team including academic and industrial drug discovery experts. The team, led by scientists with biochemistry and drug discovery experience in academia and the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, is looking to recruit a highly motivated, skilled, and career-oriented biochemist or molecular biologist.

Job Duties

  • Develops and characterizes cellular models relevant to Alzheimer's Disease.
  • Studies small molecule inhibitor therapeutics on various cell interactions.
  • Participates in early-stage drug discovery in collaboration with scientists within the academic community, with a goal of bringing new treatments to patients with unmet medical needs. 
  • Supervises undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Performs other job-duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • Three years of hands-on laboratory experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline and/or a related field and a track record of quality publications and/or patents in these areas.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:  protein production and purification, molecular biology, next generation sequencing technologies and data analysis.
  • Laboratory skills with molecular biology, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Track record of quality publications and/or patents in these areas.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Able to work independently and consult the literature to guide scientific efforts.
