Summary
Provides advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Job Duties
- See gynecologic oncology patients, including, but not limited to:
- Gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy
- Post-operative patients
- Survivorship patients
- Provide chemotherapy teaching for gynecologic cancer regimens
- Patient education and counseling, including consents, survivorship, healthy lifestyle, and pre-operative counseling
- Cancer and chemotherapy symptom management
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies
- Prescribing medications
- Answering EPIC MyChart patient messages
- Be available to answer questions from the infusion center (patient reactions, medication questions, etc)
- Participate in research and clinical trials.
- Track gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy
- Ensure pre-operative patients who need pre-operative clearance is obtained and if needed, care coordination with other services and/or physicians that may be outside the BCM network
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
- Physician Assistant Candidates: Master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
- Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Master’s degree in nursing.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- Physician Assistant Candidates: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board.
- Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP).
Experience Required: None required.
Specialty certification as required by department.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
