This is a temporary non-benefits eligible position through July 31st.  Position requires commuting to sites throughout Houston (inside the Beltway 8).


The Institute for Clinical & Translational Research is seeking a Phlebotomist to support our COVID research. "SARS-COV-2 Prevalence Study" is a clinical study by the COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN) and funded by the NIH/NIAID. This study aims to work with a network of organizations in the rapid evaluation of COVID-19 treatment and prevention strategies. The Phlebotomist is responsible for conducting a population-based study of Covid-19 prevalence sampling blood, nasopharyngeal swabs, and heel sticks of all age groups. 

Job Duties


  • Collects blood from participants of all ages. 
  • Collects blood from an average of 17 individuals per day.
  • Assists the coordinator in setting up a site for sample collection and will follow protocols for managing samples and tracking them. 
  • Completes and maintains all paperwork required for proper specimen processing.
  • Adheres to established standards, policies, procedures, and protocols of Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center.
  • Performs all phlebotomy in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Certified Phlebotomist by an accredited professional organization (ASCP, ASPT, ACA, NCCT, NPA, MedCA, AMCA, AAH, or NHA).
