Phlebotomist is responsible for skillful and appropriate specimen collection by all methods of all age groups in a clinical setting. Departmental support is included in the responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Properly collects blood specimens by venipuncture for clinical trials
  • Completes requisitions/paperwork accompanying the collection to insure proper processing
  • Adheres to established standards, protocols and policies of Baylor college of Medicine and of the clinical trials
  • Performs phlebotomy in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines
  • Keeps collection area and equipment clean in the clinical setting

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Certified Phlebotomist by an accredited professional organization (ASCP, ASPT, ACA, NCCT, NPA, MedCA, AMCA, AAH, or NHA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current blood borne pathogens training
  • At least 2 years of phlebotomy experience
