Summary

An Instructor in Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. The successful candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree with a strong track record of publications in the fields. The required expertise and main job duties include:

  • Applying cheminformatics to calculate molecular descriptors of small molecule compounds.
  • Performing molecular dynamics and modeling for small molecules and proteins.
  • Designing synthetic routes.
  • Synthesizing, purifying, and characterizing organic compounds as potential small molecule therapeutics.
  • Collecting, compiling, and analyzing experimental data and results.
  • Maintaining lab notebooks and other records and preparing experimental reports, manuscripts, and patents.
  • Communicating experimental results with the Principal Investigator.
  • Adhering strictly to lab safety protocols.
  • Assisting the Principal Investigator for student and postdoc mentoring.
  • Contributing to grant application preparation. The successful candidate will report to the Principal Investigator (https://www.bcm.edu/people-search/yongcheng-song-31069) and participate in exciting drug discovery programs.
