Title: Pharmacist
Summary
To provide professional skills in the distribution of drugs and in clinical services offered for patient care.
The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and able to work in a fast paced environment. Will also have an IV Sterile Compound Certification and two years of experience.
Job Duties
- Interprets physician's orders for medications and ensures therapy is appropriate for patient's diagnosis, weight, and age.
- Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications per physician's orders in all patient care areas in accordance with departmental and applicable laws.
- Detects, prevents, evaluates, and reports, when necessary, Adverse Drug Events.
- Maintains patient medication profiles and develops patient care plans.
- Counsels patients receiving medications.
- Provides drug information to members of the health care team.
- Assist in supply inventory needed for the pharmacy.
- May supervise the activities of support personnel.
- May assist in the training and development of newly employed departmental staff.
- May serve as preceptor to technicians, pharmacy students, residents, and extended-interns.
- May participate in pharmaceutical continuing education, in accordance with departmental performance standards.
- May conduct/participate in research activities to include publishing findings in professional journals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
- No experience required.
- Current licensure from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Infusion pharmacy experience.
- IV Sterile Compound Certification.
- Two years of experience.
