The Division of Psychology within the Department of Pediatrics includes more than 50 pediatrics, clinical, and neuropsychologists practicing across subspecialty areas at Texas Children’s Hospital, providing care in both the inpatient and outpatient environments. BCM, our academic home, is also home to outstanding psychology training programs at the graduate, internship, and postdoctoral levels.

Summary

Texas Children’s Hospital /Baylor College of Medicine Psychology Division is recruiting a Pediatric Psychologist for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, with a clinician educator focus. The psychologist in this position will join a team of pediatric psychologists providing evaluation and intervention services to children in both the inpatient and outpatient setting at the Texas Children’s Hospital Houston Medical center Campus. Texas Children’s Hospital /Baylor College of Medicine Psychology Division is recruiting a Pediatric Psychologist for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, with a clinician educator focus. The psychologist in this position will join a team of pediatric psychologists providing evaluation and intervention services to children in both the inpatient and outpatient setting at the Texas Children’s Hospital Houston Medical center Campus.

 

The psychologist in this position will also have the opportunity to engage in diagnostic assessment and/or intervention with children under the age of 6 presenting without medical illness. Consultations with multidisciplinary medical providers and learners will be expected.

 

In addition to patient care and training learners in our internship and fellowship programs, all faculty members are expected to contribute to the College’s academic mission.  Both independent and collaborative research/scholarship opportunities are available through partnership with other Division members, as well as our subspecialty partners.

Job Duties

The psychologist will work with children, including those under age 6 presenting with:

  • Difficulty with adjustment to medical diagnosis
  • Difficulties with adherence
  • Difficult behavior interfering with medical care
  • Procedural anxiety
  • Pill swallowing difficulty
  • Difficulty parenting in the context of medical illness

Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctorate in clinical, counseling, or school psychology with a specialization in child clinical psychology
  • Completed both an APA-accredited psychology internship and postdoctoral training in child clinical psychology
  • The candidate must also be licensed/license-eligible in Texas
