Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Neonatologist to join a growing neonatal program in Austin Texas. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to critically ill and premature newborns in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting. 

Job Duties

  • Provide specialized medical care to premature and critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
  • Diagnose and manage neonatal conditions including respiratory distress, infections, congenital disorders, and complications related to prematurity.
  • Work collaboratively with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive neonatal care.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, patient management discussions, and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings, committees, and academic activities.
  • Support family-centered care by communicating effectively with parents and caregivers regarding treatment plans and neonatal outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatrics Residency Program.
  • Completion of a Neonatal–Perinatal Medicine Fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Eligible for or currently holding an unrestricted medical license in the state of Texas.
  • Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary clinical team

     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine through the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Experience working in a Level III or Level IV NICU environment.
  • Academic experience including teaching residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Participation in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, or neonatal outcomes projects.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to family-centered care.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems.
