Summary

Instructor - Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant)

 

Scope of practice:

  1. Cares for both outpatient and inpatient pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients on a rotating basis. Works as part of team including Attending BMT physician and potentially with a

BMT or Hematology-Oncology fellow to provide care for current and new inpatients and outpatients.

  1. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds while inpatient including medical, nursing and pharmacy personnel to provide optimal patient care.
  2. Provides all patient care for patients including but not limited to conducting the outpatient visit, physical exam, medical counseling, and documentation.
  3. While inpatient, provide all care for assigned patients including physical exam, documentation, calling consults, order writing, completing admission and discharge paperwork.
  4. Participates in twice daily sign out process with oncoming/off going teams while inpatient.
  5. Works with outpatient attendings to manage care of outpatient pediatric bone marrow transplant patients of all ages.

 

Minimum requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant degree
  • Nurse Practitioners must have Pediatric Acute Care certification (CPNP-AC)
  • Prior to employment start date must obtain appropriate license in the state of Texas and
  • National Board Certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
