Summary
Instructor - Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant)
Scope of practice:
- Cares for both outpatient and inpatient pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients on a rotating basis. Works as part of team including Attending BMT physician and potentially with a
BMT or Hematology-Oncology fellow to provide care for current and new inpatients and outpatients.
- Participates in multidisciplinary rounds while inpatient including medical, nursing and pharmacy personnel to provide optimal patient care.
- Provides all patient care for patients including but not limited to conducting the outpatient visit, physical exam, medical counseling, and documentation.
- While inpatient, provide all care for assigned patients including physical exam, documentation, calling consults, order writing, completing admission and discharge paperwork.
- Participates in twice daily sign out process with oncoming/off going teams while inpatient.
- Works with outpatient attendings to manage care of outpatient pediatric bone marrow transplant patients of all ages.
Minimum requirements
- Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant degree
- Nurse Practitioners must have Pediatric Acute Care certification (CPNP-AC)
- Prior to employment start date must obtain appropriate license in the state of Texas and
- National Board Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
